Viraj Babbar: The most important skill needed to become an actor is observation
Rubaru Mr. India Glam International winner Viraj Babbar says that one can learn a lot from observing others. He adds that, when it comes to acting, closely observing his surroundings has helped him perform better.
“Actors need to observe everyone around them, so that when you are asked to act something you can pick it out of your observations. Like how someone who's angry will walk, or someone who's late will walk, or someone who's sad will walk, these are things that you can learn just by observing. I remember in one of the interviews Aamir Khan was telling how he observed that when in extreme pain you don't yell, or do drama, at first you are just shocked that your body can go through this much pain. These are the things that you need to keep an eye on. Observe people around you as if they are characters from a series,” he says.
Meanwhile, working long hours while staying in shape and hitting the gym regularly can be tough, he says, adding, “You have to do it. You have to stay in shape. I don't do it because this is what my work demands, I do it because I love to see myself in a certain shape in all my pictures or on screen. I do it for myself. And there's no superficial reason behind it that one needs to look good, it's more of living a healthy lifestyle. A fit body is a healthy body, and a healthy body has a healthy mind. It's all related and part of life now.”
